Our enactment of the Battle of Hastings shows the repeated Norman attacks on the Saxon shield wall until finally the Saxons broke and advanced on the weary Normans, in the belief they had killed their leader, William the Conqueror. William raised his helmet to show his men he had not died and the Normans, buoyed by the sight of their leader, killed Saxon King Harold (Artistic license here as he was probably not shin in the eye in reality!). The Normans triumphed and William was crowned King of England
